Hot Lemon Water – do you do this?

 

 

Tosca Reno – Love her books.  In every single one of them she talks about how she starts her day by squeezing a lemon in a mug of hot water.  I tried it once, didn’t like it.  Tried it again, didn’t like it.  Kept reading about the health benefits of it and thought I’d try it for a few days.  Well – after about a week of just a few sips each day, I am now starting every morning with this ritual and look forward to it! 

BENEFITS OF DRINKING LEMON WATER EACH DAY

  • Helps shed toxins from the body.
  • Acts as a liver tonic.
  • Improves skin tone and quality.
  • Works as a natural diuretic.
  • Helps dissolve gallstones.
  • Breaks down phlegm.
  • Relieves nausea.
  • Relieves constipation.
  • Is a digestive aid.
  • Alkalizes the body.
  • Improves immunity.

I also watched Dr. Oz the other morning when I noticed the topic was 7 essentials for woman 40 and older and this was one of his tips also! 

With some persistence and encouragement from others who are healthy and fit, I tried and tried this, and now just like doing my FMFL DVDs 3-5 days a week, it has become a GOOD habit and just part of my daily routine. 

Buy some lemons – try it.  It may take a few days or a week, but you’ll like it and look forward to it!

  2. I normally do mine cold. Does the warm water significantly improve it? I’ll google it myself if you don’t know it off the top of your head, but since you just saw Dr. Oz’s show and read her book, you may already know. Thanks.

  3. Becky – there is a reason why it should be warm/hot, but I can’t find it right now.

  4. Is it bad for your teeth to have the acid from the lemon everyday, or is it no worse than having a cup of coffee every morning?

  5. I read somewhere that squeezing some lemon into a beverage helps you get more iron from your meals. Another good reason to have lemons!

  6. My husband and I were discussing this the other day and he wanted to know why you couldn’t just squeeze some store-bought 100% lemon juice in your water. I’m guessing it’s because the preservatives kinda defeat the purpose of detoxing your body…?

  8. My grandfather was known for doing this every morning since middle-age, and he was very independent into his 90’s, and lived to 98. Of course there’s several factors that affect longevity, but he also never had health problems that are common among the aging population (i.e. cancer, arthritis, dementia). Interesting that there is a defined health benefit to this as he got this habit from his own parents and I thought it was just one of those crazy but harmless natural remedy’s of his. Grandpa had it right all along!
