To Bake or Not to Bake

Hi, this is Katy a contributor to the blog.  Sure I can cook a decent meal, but what I really love to do in the kitchen is bake!  I think this comes from when I was a little kid and mom used to let me help and then lick the beaters.  So started my obsession with baked goods, especially cookies!  When I started dieting, I stopped baking.  This was so hard for me!  When I reached my goal size, I went on a mission to find a “decent” chocolate chip cookie recipe, and I think I have it!  They taste good and the kids can’t tell they’re any different from what I used to make.  Of course, I advise you to only eat one, not four like my former self would have!

  1. I will be trying these!

  2. These sound great! Thanks!

  3. I love to bake too! I am always looking for healthier versions of recipes. One thing I do in most recipes is replace the oil in a recipe with natural applesauce. Works great in pumpkin bars!

  4. Thanks Katy! Do you feel that substituting stevia one for one works okay, or do you split with sugar? Also, do you generally use just regular whole wheat flour for baking, or pastry flour? I have heard differing opinions.

  5. This look and sound good! I will be trying these out. I was looking for a healthy cookie recipe 🙂 The applesauce tip is a good one – I’ll try that out and I also heard that you can substitute oil with mashed bananas.

  1. […] flour, chocolate…. well, you get the idea.  As you may have guessed from my previous blog “To Bake or Not to Bake”, I am a sucker for cookies.  So, instead of cancelling, I challenged myself to find a decent sugar […]
