Jody’s Amazing Fat Loss Transformation on NBC

A couple weeks ago I shared the story about Jody, a mom who had five kids who lost nearly 50 lbs in the past 7 months.  Click here to read her story. NBC heard about the story and featured her in my fitness segment.  This amazing fat loss transformation shows how anybody who works hard and is committed to exercise and eating healthy can achieve amazing results!  I received many emails and calls from people after they watched this on NBC, wanting to know more about what all jody has done.

Here are some of jody’s responses to questions that were asked by people.

Regarding Kate’s questions…When I was taking MamaTone, I was working out at least 2 days per week (3 tops). With Bootcamp, 3 days a week. They are only 6 weeks long, so you HAVE to go the 3 days to really get your money’s worth and see results. I didn’t do a lot on my own…maybe some push-up here and there or a run/walk for 3 miles MAYBE once a week (depending upon the weather). I came to the conclusion that 3 days a week wasn’t asking too much!

Food…I LOVE food! I love eating food, I love making food, I love the smell of food. It was a little difficult for me to alter my eating habits, but I knew it had to be done. A few things I did (and still do): I don’t eat past 630pm; portion control (one helping of something is plenty or half an english muffin instead of the whole thing); I switched from regular peanut butter to all natural peanut butter and sugar free jelly, snacked on plenty of fruits (pears, bananas, apples, raising, craisins) between meals; made sure my dinner was something like, grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, cottage cheese, and no carbs; LOTS of water; and natural ingredients. After about a week of altering my eating habits, I wasnt’ as hungry as I use to be – which was crazy – but I loved it!

Getting up for the 545am Bootcamp was challenging for me (Dustin knows I am NOT a morning person), but I never felt better…once it was over! It’s become the way I WANT to start my day (I never thought those words would come out of my mouth!). Dustin’s classes really make you feel good about yourself and who doesn’t want that?! They are SO worth it! I promise, you won’t be disappointed (and I’m a tough sell!). It’s a matter of discipline and saying to yourself, “enough is enough and I’m going to do this.” And you can! :)

  1. Great segment! You are now my push-up inspiration, Jody! When I switch the incline when doing push-ups it is going the opposite direction — putting my hands up on the incline — can’t wait till I can reverse it like you 🙂 Way to go & keep it up !!!!

  2. Excellent interview. Jody, very impressive. I remember when you emailed a bunch of McFarland moms at the beginning of your training with Dustin and MamaTone. Wow, you have accomplished so much. Awesome job. I’m inspired, and a little jealous, I want to do pushups like that!

  3. My Jody, you made those pushups and wt. lifting look so effortless that it made us all feel like we could just up and do it~~haha!! Don’t we wish! (Actually, for a bit of a disgusting side note, Dustin’s dad did just that after watching you, and he doesn’t even work out! So maybe Dustin can be extra thankful for his good paternal athletic genes added to the mix, eh?!)

    And thanks for your added eating tips-those are always very helpful, when you folks share those, what works for you….got any range of how many cals. per day you aim for?

    I am WAY impressed, how you get up that early and WANT to go to bootcamp–truly inspiring! And just think of the incredible example you are setting for your kids-they are so blessed!!
