Killer Kurves Local Program

Killer Kurves (K2) is a 12-week program designed for women with significant weight loss goals—those who want to lose 40 pounds or more. It’s a safe environment where you do not have to worry about what others may think if you can’t run, jump, or do a push up. It is a place where people “get” one another and understand the struggles and challenges everyone in the room is facing.

K2 is led by two amazing trainers who each lost over 60 pounds going through our Fit Fun Bootcamps and MamaTone programs. Now they are certified trainers looking to pay it forward and share their knowledge about what it takes to get amazing results and keep the weight off long term.

Interested in learning more about Killer Kurves? Here’s all you need to know about the program:
Group meetings: Killer Kurves participants meet three days per week for hour-long classes which consist of 30 minutes of workouts designed to be easy on joints, and 30 minutes of group discussion. Discussions will cover topics such as what foods to eat, how to set and achieve audacious goals, how to improve self-esteem, and how to gradually change deeply ingrained habits and live life to the fullest over the long haul.

Extras: Members are teamed up with an accountability partner and also have unlimited access to their trainers. In addition, they receive access to a private Facebook group for Killer Kurves participants, and are invited to K2 community outings and parties, including a group grocery store tour that focuses on healthy eating and what you should be putting in your grocery cart. As a participant, you will have access to all of our Fit Fun Bootcamp locations and are encouraged to attend one workout per week in addition to the 3 days that you meet with your Killer Kurves group. You will also receive a copy of Fit Moms For Life: How to Have Endless Energy to Outplay Your Kids, as well as a binder packed full of handouts, homework assignments, and discussion questions.

carrieMy journey began about 2 1/2 years ago when I weighed close to 210 pounds and wore a size 20. Around this time, we had just moved to a house with a pool and my 20-year high school reunion was coming up the following summer. I knew I wouldn’t use the pool at my current weight, and I didn’t want to deprive my kids of that enjoyment. In addition, I wanted to attend my reunion and catch up with old friends…something I knew I would not do unless I lost weight. These two things were the push I needed to start a program finally. I was looking for something and really had no idea what, but I was certain I would NOT be going to any health club where already-skinny people were working out. And I also wasn’t willing to eat bars and shakes and check off little boxes in a food journal….I had tried that and it hadn’t worked for me.

I heard about Dustin’s bootcamp via a friend on Facebook. I checked out his website and was drawn to what I was reading, particularly the success stories of other women. I signed up, had instant second thoughts, and nearly didn’t go at all. This same friend encouraged me to “just show up and do it.” I didn’t sleep the night before wondering what was in store for me and how embarrassed I was going to be trying to keep up. Well, it was hard!! I was embarrassed and I didn’t keep up…for many months I didn’t keep up. But I tried my very best every day and other bootcampers encouraged me so I kept coming back. Results came in just a few weeks, which motivated me to make other lifestyle changes. I went to a basic nutrition class, which was the start of changing how I ate. Over the course of two years I changed habits one by one and started reading about food and how it affects your body. All these small changes over time added up to a 60+ pound weight loss and changes in my life I would never have predicted.

When I was so overweight, I was unhappy and had little self-confidence in any area of my life. Worse than that was the environment I was creating for my family. Not only was I eating unhealthy foods, but so were my husband and two young girls. We did not do activities as a family because I felt awful going anywhere. No waterparks because I wouldn’t wear a swimsuit. No hiking or biking because I wouldn’t wear shorts. No sledding because I didn’t have snowpants that fit. My husband and I didn’t do much together either, mostly because I never felt good in any clothes I had. And if we did make it out somewhere, chances were good I was a total crab…because of how upsetting it had been trying to find something to wear which made me feel attractive (which I never did).

Today I weigh 144, wear a size 8, and am a much happier, healthier person. Our family has changed for the better. My kids are aware of what healthy foods are, my husband now has a gym membership and is exercising regularly, and we have eliminated processed food, soda, and weekly trips to McDonald’s from our lifestyle. For the first time in 10 years I attended my husband’s company Christmas party. This past summer we went to a waterpark with our kids and I swam almost daily with them in our pool. And I’ve recently become a certified personal trainer…something I never would have guessed was possible 2 1/2 years ago. If I can do it, so can you!!

I know what they are going through and I can empathize, but now I can also give them tools to take control back into their lives and create endless possibilities for themselves.

Liz, mother of 2

Three years ago I walked into Dustin’s MamaTone class and my life changed forever. At the time, I was a stay at home mom with 1- and 3-year-old boys. I was over 200 pounds and a size 16. I had let myself go and felt lost, depressed. I could hardly keep up with my kids and was exhausted all the time. I needed to change and take charge of my life again. How would I ever take care of these little boys if I continued down the path I was on?! I wanted to be a good role model for them and lose a few pounds along the way.

The workouts were hard, but so rewarding. I found I was not only getting physically stronger, but mentally fitter as well. I was starting to smile again, feel alive, and drop a few pounds. Then I plateaued for awhile and was getting very frustrated with my weight. I visited my doctor because I was having a lot of GI issues. He did discover that I have low iron levels but told me there was nothing wrong with me GI-wise. So I met with a nutritionist and she helped me make the choice to go gluten free. My body is so much happier now. I learned a lot about how food really affects how we feel, act, and function. While being gluten free is hard sometimes, I have never felt better!

LizToday I’m the smallest I have ever been at 143 pounds and a size 6. I’m constantly amazed at where this journey has taken me. It wasn’t always easy but it has always been rewarding. I’m so excited to be a certified trainer now and to be able to help others achieve their goals! Now I’m enjoying an active life with my husband and kids. There is no better feeling than knowing that I can now truly live life to its fullest.
