“For someone who never paid much attention to the nutrition value of food, I found Dustin’s grocery shopping trip to be very informative and useful to me. He discussed the deceptive marketing techniques used by most major food manufacturers in promoting their products; deciphered the information provided on nutrition labels of products selected by the group, and discussed alternative food choices as we toured the grocery store. Since the trip, I take the time to read nutrition labels and understand what is actually in the food I purchase.”

I’m so excited to go on this tour!! Thanks Dustin!

Nancy @ 8:11 am

I had been successfully losing weight and gaining strength through Dustin’s MamaTone classes and Bootcamps, but I didn’t really see results until I took a hard look at what I was eating. You can’t out-exercise a poor diet! I took Dustin’s grocery store tour and was surprised to find that items I assumed to be healthy really were not so great. Dustin answered all our questions on soy products, milk products, eggs, fish, meats, breads, breakfast cereals, snack bars, and more! I walked away with confidence and was charged up to shop, placing new items that I had never tried before in my cart.

dustin,
I signed up for your grocery tour, but I didn’t or I missed the place where I tell you which one I’d liket to attend. Please put me in for your Aug 6th, 6:30PM slot. It’s the wednesday tour. Thanks,
Kim

I recently went on Dustin’s grocery tour and found it very interesting. I feel that I am quite health and nutrition conscious and have done a fair amount of reading on healthy eating. BUT, reading about it and actually looking at labels is quite different. I found Dustin’s information very helpful to me when I am at the store shopping. He gave us some great info on reading labels and I really enjoyed touring each department of the grocery store and learning about what is healthy and not so healthy in each area. Thanks Dustin!

The grocery store tour is a valuable experience. I am an experienced healthy food shopper - so I thought! I discovered some great food choices for my family and also how to discover more by looking at the food labels in a new way!! We also had a great discussion on food paring in the produce section that was an eye opener to many of us.

I was a recent member of the “Copps touring troup”-it was more than I ever could have imagined, anyone can walk through a grocery store and say buy that….Dustin shares his pearls of wisdom, as well as the science behind his recommendations. He matches nutrition to fitness and life in general-he was approproachable and shared his knowledge in understandable terms. I recommend this tour and Dustin’s services in general, to anyone who wants to honestly address themselves, look themselves in the mirror and say YES-I want to do all I can to meet my goals, an hour in the store-home with handouts and ammunition to up your game to the next level. You will laugh and learn at the same time.

The tour was great. Fitness is only part of the healthly lifestlye equation and I did not feel well equipped for the nutrition part of the equation until after the tour. As a mom normally racing through a grocery store with two “helpers”, reading labels is usually the last thing on my mind. I trusted the well known brands. (Big mistake) I did not realize how hard some of the ingrediants are to actually read and if you can’t pronounce, your body probably was not built to use it very well. Thanks Dustin!

Dustin’s grocery tour was very informative. I especially liked the handouts we received. I love pre-made menu plans and the one Dustin gave us is tasty and easy to follow. He also gave us a refrigerator magnet with a categorized list of healthy foods. When I reach for the chocolate cake that magnet reminds me of what I should be eating to stay healthy and reach my weight loss goal. Thanks Dustin for sharing your knowledge with us.

Dustin,

Can you tell me if you still have both days open? I would be driving 1.5 hours to come to the tour and have to line up a sitter for my children. I am wondering if you have 2 spots open as I want to invite my sister who lives in madison to join to me. How long is the tour?

admin @ 11:11 am

We have both days available. I am excited to see you!

I was glad to have taken the time to attend one of the grocery store tours of Dustin’s. I enjoyed how he sent each of us on a quick mission to find a food that we have questions about or like to eat (and hope to continue eating!) The tour was fast-paced, fun and informative–the cereal/bar aisle was a big eye-opener. I also learned important things like, dont eat just a piece of fruit alone–should eat protein with it to slow the absorption of the fructose/sugars. Reminders to avoid the center of the store and shop the periphery. Also remember, what is not refrigerated or frozen may be loaded with preservatives. I took D’s advice on the best bread to eat-hint, you won’t find it on the shelves. Lots of great tips like swap out sour cream and replace with yogurt (preferably greek, twice as expensive but loads more protein) buy omega 3 eggs and incorporate Kefir. D said in his e-newsletter that losing weight is 25% working out and 75% food choices. I have used this sage advice to continue to tighten the “vice-grip” on my choices and have welcomed another 4 lbs off last week! Shout-out to D and his gang!

The grocery store tour was very informative. The biggest surprise for me was learning about the wheat bread vs 100% whole wheat (Today I use a multi grain). All this time I thought I raised my family on 100% whole wheat bread. I keep hearing in my head, my kids saying…”I grew up eating wheat bread, not white.” And in reality they didn’t!! I do believe in a more wholesome food vs lite. So lots of the tour re-affirmed my own beliefs. One food I would like to try that is new to me…HUMUS. sp?
Thank you Dustin for the tour.

Joan @ 10:37 am

I would love to experience this, but I don’t live close enough to Madison, any chance this is on a DVD?

admin @ 12:24 pm

Joan, I REALLY want to put this on DVD! One of the challenges is finding a grocery store that will let cameras in. I hope to be able to bring this to you, but unfortunately not yet.

Dustin—could you give me additional dates down the way. I cannot make it to the two listed and am very interested in taking this “tour.”

Thanks

I recently went on Dustin’s grocery shopping tour. I considered myself to be somewhat of a healthy shopper, but I still learned new things about making healthier choices. Along with several handouts, he guided us through the aisles to answer questions and shared some of his favorites foods. (I love the Ezekiel bread!) As usual Dustin was informative, approachable, and inspired me to eat better too!

The same principals that help women lose weight are the same that can help men, so all the info on this site and all the programs are perfect for guys as well!

Dustin,
I’m a senior citizen of 74. My husband & I have been doing QI Gong on a dvd. We listen to you on WPR. I would like to see you do something for our age group. But then I see that you are very young and maybe can’t think in those terms. We would like a short added strength training of about 15 minutes. Something standing up. It’s too hard to get up off of the floor and we are all done w/the sweating stuff. . Maybe you could reccomend someone or a dvd. If not we still enjoy listeneng to you and think that your advice is very good for the younger generations. I have just subscribed to your e-mail letter

I just signed up for the Grocery Store Tour and want to attend on Feb. 4th–I didn’t mention the day in my order. Please sign me up for the 4th and I will see you at Copps at 6:15!
Thanks!!!

Dustin:
I went on your Grocery Tour last evening and walked away with a whole lot of eye-opening info.
I realize that my trips to the grocery store will take a little more time initially to read labels and familiarize myself with good choices. Amazed at the sugar content in sooo many products.
Thanks for your guidance. Hoping that with my 3 x week ‘Fit for Moms’ workouts and 3 x week ‘Core’ workout and now armed with a healthy shopping list, maybe the scale will start to reflect the weight loss that I hope will happen!
