The numbers are very pathetic when it comes to people’s ability to achieve their New Year’s Resolutions. Why is that? Today I want to share with you an article from the brilliant writer Christine Kane.

Now that you have read the article, please comment below with the word that you are going to use this year.
I have thought hard about my word and the word that keeps coming to my mind is FOCUS.
I have created clear and defined goals for this coming year in all areas of my life, now I have to base every decision and opportunity off of these goals and ask myself if this is the best use of my time given my goals. If it isn’t I need to say no and not feel bad or guilty about it.
I must realize to have “great” I must give up “good” and to have “amazing” I must give up “great.”
Question of the day: What is your word for this year and why? Please comment below.

APPRECIATE.
Appreciate and make the most of every day
Appreciate my friends & family
Appreciate the importance of every decision
Appreciate the efforts of others
Appreciate how lucky I am
Tara,
I love it! Thanks for sharing.

CHOICE
The choices I make lead to my successes or my failures. Whether my goals are related to fitness or more quality time with my family; I have the power to choose every step of the way.
POWER
We have the power to do so many things in our lives and the lives of others. It really is our choice to use that power in a negative or positive way. Negative things happen that we have not control over, but how we handle them is what gives us the power!!!
I don’t generally make new years resolutions…however, I am very excited about 2011 due to the massive lifestyle change our family made in 2010. It just keeps getting better!!!!
I chose two words: WEALTH and PASSION
Wealth because I don’t want the “poor me” attitude to creep up on me. I am surrounded by a wealth of positive people and relationships and I am always striving to increase my wealth of knowledge. Particularly for things I am passionate about. It’s time to stop trying to do everything and instead spend my energy on the things I am most passionate about.
Commitment. I can’t do everything, but when I commit to something, I will do it and follow through.
DO.
Not Try. Do.
Melissa,
That is really great insight. Spending energy doing things you are most passionate about.
Dustin
FREEDOM….
Freedom from pain.
Freedom from extra weight.
Freedom from clutter.
Freedom from excess stuff.
Freedom to do what I want when I want.
Awesome Kris, I love the freedom idea.
Dustin
PATIENCE
Patience with my children
Patience with my husband
Patience with myself
Patience that life will present me with what I need and when
I think my word for 2011 will be CREATIVITY. I will take actions that nurture my creativity and that encourage my children. Focusing on creativity will help my photography business flourish. It’ll help my home feel more homey and will center my state of mind. And when things get tough, it’s always good to approach problems creatively!
PEACE & LIGHT
Peace & lightness of spirit and of heart. So that I don’t become mired down in things that are of no significance to me or that I can’t change. Being proud of myself for small steps every day that add up to giant leaps over time. Staying focused on the important things in life: God & family.
Caroline,
Great stuff, I like the part about not being mired down by insignificant things!

Perseverance would be my word.
Doing anything and everything I can to finally meet my ultimate goal, trying to remember to enjoy my accomplishments along the way.
Greatful to team Maher/Brockman and my workout partners who constantly inspire and encourage, I know I am not alone as I fight the good fight, and that makes all the diference.
Thank You
These are all great!
I think my word shall be ADVENTURE.
Adventure is finding joy in trying new things. Adventure is getting out of your comfort zone and choosing (or sometimes forcing) yourself to be what you have always wanted to be, but been afraid to try. Adventures will take you places you would not normally go and rid you of times when life gets a little stale and boring.
