Why did I create Buns/Guns/Shoulders/Back?

Throughout the past 6 years I have received thousands of emails from people around the world asking for advice on how to tone certain parts of their body.  I was asked how to tighten the core up so many times, that I put them into two DVDs called Got Core.  But I still needed to address the following questions.

Hence the creation of my latest program.  I took all of the most effective exercises that tone these specific areas, and used a technique I call “Super Duper Setting.”  Super sets have been around for awhile and they consist of doing two exercises back to back.  Many times they are working opposite muscle groups, while other times they are targeting the same muscle groups. (The Fit Moms For Life DVDs use both of these techniques, which are very powerful)  I decided to take it a step further and combine 5-8 exercises that targeted the same muscle group, but from different angles and different resistance levels.  This forces the body to tone up even faster.  That is why the average workout on these DVDs is about 13 minutes.

I had taken ballet and jazz dance classes from the time I was 3 and continued to dance in college. Although I never had a perfect “dancer’s body”, I was pretty fit. After college, admittedly, I became less physically active and did not have the best eating habits. I gained some weight and was not very satisfied with my appearance. I had tried various forms of exercise, such as running, swimming, different classes and videos, but I had trouble with consistency and became discouraged when I did not see results quickly enough.

In my late twenties, I gave birth to two daughters, who are 20 months apart. Life was very busy and stressful, and my eating habits and exercise commitment further dwindled. So did my self-esteem. Seeing that I was unhappy with how I looked, my husband would occasionally suggest (albeit very respectfully) that I try to exercise. Although I know he had the best of intentions, it made me feel even worse.

After the first class, I was sore in places I didn’t even know there were muscles! Six weeks later, I had lost about 8 pounds and several inches around my waist and hips.

I always have insisted that my kids eat as organically and naturally as possible, but I didn’t always abide by those principles myself. After the first arm set, my arm muscles were so exhausted that I didn’t know how I was going to get through the second set. The workouts really pushed me to the extreme and I was sore for about 5 days afterwards. And even though it was very challenging for me, the exercises can be easily modified for a beginner.     Another fabulous product that delivers results, I am sure! How much of the “Buns” workout addresses my stubborn “saddlebags”? Have you ever considered doing a DVD for “Pears” (like me) or “Apples”? The website is looking good, too, BTW.

  2. I have just started doing the FMFL dvd’s how can I incorporate these exercises into that program?

    • Kris,

      You could do a couple things. You could add it to the workout on the same day… For example one day to the FMFL strength training and then also do whatever 10-15 minute workout you want to do. If you want extra attention to the arms do the arms. If you want more attention to the butt and thighs do that.

      Then on the following day you could do your cardio and core, and the next day do the FMFL strength and another different workout from the Bun Guns Back DVD.
