Kim Sveum’s Parenting Project 6 Week Transformation Part 1

I am very excited to be partnering with Kim Sveum of ABC news and the creator of the Parenting Project, a twice a week segment dedicated to helping parents on a multitude of topics!  Kim is like many other moms that I meet, she has two small kids, works a full time job, and wishes she had energy left to do house chores and play with the kids.  Kim was a competitive gymnast all through college, but hasn’t been very active since then.

When she came to me with this idea for everyone to follow her progress, I met with her to make sure she was going to be committed, if I were to put my program and reputation to the test on TV, I needed to know she was going to take it seriously.  After our meeting I felt very good, and am 100% positive in the initial 6 weeks of this series she will make some great progress!  Kim is participating in MamaTone 3X/Week and also has the Fit Moms For Life DVDs as another option if she can’t make it to the gym or wants to add an extra day.

If you want to watch the segment live, it airs in Southern Wisconsin at about 5:15 on Tuesdays, and again Wed morning on channel 27, the ABC affiliate.

I am impressed with Kim’s transparency and openness to share her intimate numbers with the world!  She is hoping that this will start a movement towards moms putting themselves first and taking care of their bodies!

Kim has a blog and web page that I would recommend visiting and following.  She will be sharing the eating plan I have her on, the exercise routines, and the highs and lows that come with making changes.

  1. This is exciting, I’m interested in checking in with Kim each week and cheering her on! I need to check my body fat percentage, that would be a good number to know.

  2. Way to go Kim! You’ve got to put yourself out there – accountability is key. She will do awesome with that type of commitment. The best motivator is for friends, family and viewers to ask, “hey how is your program going?”

  3. Hi Kim!

Wow, that was so awesome!! Yeah, for sure, you are one gutsy lady….but I do have to say that you look great already! But you will represent well the many who need this for energy alone, not to mention the great role model to your kids-teaching them how to set yourself up for the later years when you want to still be able to ski, for example, with your adult kids and the grandkids!! It still is a good day for Dustin when he can win a game of tennis with his Dad, or beat him in pingpong! 🙂
It will be so fun watching your progress, Kim!

  4. That’s great Kim! You have your entire viewing audience, and Dustin’s, as your support group now. I love the parenting project and can’t wait to see how you do. I know what it’s like to walk out of Mamatone wondering just how sore you’re going to be the next day. Feels great, doesn’t it?

  5. Thanks to all of you for your great feedback. I am sore, and I would love to drink a Dt. Coke, but other than that, I am feeling great. I am so glad that I decided to do this. I wasn’t crazy about putting my measurements out there, but I felt like doing it would certainly hold me accountable! I have had a great time so far, and I’ve really enjoyed meeting everyone in the MamaTone classes!

  6. Kim,
One measurement I didn’t see is height? How tall are you? I think you look terrific already but just wait, Dustin will have you looking and feeling better then you ever have. I really enjoyed MamaTone when my schedule allowed me to participate. Unfortunately, I am back to working full time so I can not go anymore 🙁 Good luck with this journey Kim. You are right, Dustin is terrific to work with.

    Kim-
Way to go for putting all your cards on the table for all to see. I am sure it was very hard but know that it is inspiring to all of us to be accountable for our goals. I think that you look great already but it will be exciting to see your success over the next few weeks. Good luck and hope to see you in class soon.

  8. Hi Dawn..
It’s Kim again. You are right, I completely forgot to put my height on there. I am 5 feet 3 1/2 inches tall. I will have to change that on our website, and my blog!!
