Jody at 171 lbs
Today I wanted to highlight a mom who has made an amazing transformation. I met jody less than a year ago, she was very bubbly and had tons of energy, but she was very frustrated with how her body looked after giving birth to 5 kids. She would always tell me, “Dustin, you need to get rid of this.” (She would point to her stomach and butt area)
She was like nearly every mom I meet, who gave, gave, and gave to her kids, but forgot, or chose not to take care of herself. She started coming to MamaTone and doing what it took to get there despite taking care of her small kids. Jody worked out extremely hard during last spring and started to see some good progress, but then summer came and she continued to workout well, but developed the attitude, “I am working out hard so it doesn’t matter what I eat.” This is a common mistake that many people make when trying to lose weight, they believe that exercise will burn so huge amount of calories and eating doesn’t matter. WRONG! Jody got stronger and fitter during the summer, but they weight didn’t come off nearly as fast. I then told her she needs to take it to the next level and get serious about her eating. She took the advice and began making separate meals for herself and preparing meals in advance. When she did this it was amazing how fast the weight came off. Literally every week I saw her she looked smaller.
So here is her story in her own words!
“When I went into deliver my 5th child I weighed 180lbs (I’m

Jody at 124!
5’3″). I know I know, I had a baby in my body, but it was the most I had ever weighed…even more than when I was pregnant with my twins! For whatever reason, and I’m sure I could come up with a ton of them, the weight was NOT coming off. By the time my baby was about 11 months old, and I weighed close to 170, I was frustrated and tired of not fitting back into my prebaby clothes (or any clothes in my closet for that matter). I accidentally ran across Dustin on Craigslist and his MamaTone class sounded intriguing. I met with him before signing up, took the complimentary class, and I was hooked! It wasn’t doing the same thing over and over again, but the perfect mix of cardio and weights (something I had never done before). The challenge was not only refreshing but most importantly, rewarding! Within a short period of time, my husband and I were noticing a difference, and my shame and embarrassment was melting away, literally! Dustin has always been extremely professional, comfortable, and encouraging. He’s the only person who has ever taken the time to show me how to do the exercises correctly, check up on me, push me, and get me to where I want to be. After 4 months of MamaTone classes, I lost 30 pounds and met my goal weight for October. Since then, I’ve lost another 10+ pounds while taking his Bootcamp classes. I have muscle definition throughout my entire body, energy to keep up with my family, and strength that astonishes me everyday! My prebaby clothes…are too big!
MamaTone, Bootcamp and Dustin has changed my life for the absolute best!”

Yeah for a mom of twins!! Congrats, you look awesome!
Wow! Congrats Jody! How many times a week do you work out— at MamaTone and on your own? What are your food/eating secrets? As a busy mom myself, I find food to be the biggest issue to meeting my health goals.
Your story is inspirational to moms. Often it’s so difficult to carve out time for ourselves; but it’s so important to make the effort to focus on our health. What a great example — you did it, and with 5 kids!
5 kids!!! I have only 2 and now I don’t have any excuses after reading your story. Keep it up Jody you look great!
Amazing, Jody!!! You were a beautiful gal in the first pic, but your second shot spread the beauty all over; plus we know the sense of accomplishment within that will affect everything you tackle from here on out!
!!) thing, post menopausal issues, etc. A little heads up, don’t waste your money on every plan you want to check out and buy the books–just go to the library and check them out-they have most everything. My twin brother lost weight with this plan, so I am trying it, plus finally working out at the new “Y” in town. Will let you know what I think of this down the road.
And yeah, Kate, I agree, it’d be nice to hear from Jody
(if she has time!), a few particulars. I have been checking into the low glycemic index plans, and so far I am finding that it is the most all inclusive, easiest thing to follow, leaving you with no cravings, as it includes all food groups at each meal, plus suggests the snacks inbetween too (and I know those ideas are what Dustin recommends too). And believe me, I have tried a lot of plans, trying to offset the so-called old age (if you recall, that was Dustin’s label for my 60 yr. milestone last month
Hope to hear from you some more, Jody!! Like I told Marsue, you gals are making Dustin look real good–keep it up!!:)
Thank you for all the nice words! It’s very encouraging and kind of you to take the time to say such nice things!
Regarding Kate’s questions…When I was taking MamaTone, I was working out at least 2 days per week (3 tops). With Bootcamp, 3 days a week. They are only 6 weeks long, so you HAVE to go the 3 days to really get your money’s worth and see results. I didn’t do a lot on my own…maybe some push-up here and there or a run/walk for 3 miles MAYBE once a week (depending upon the weather). I came to the conclusion that 3 days a week wasn’t asking too much!
Food…I LOVE food! I love eating food, I love making food, I love the smell of food. It was a little difficult for me to alter my eating habits, but I knew it had to be done. A few things I did (and still do): I don’t eat past 630pm; portion control (one helping of something is plenty or half an english muffin instead of the whole thing); I switched from regular peanutbutter to all natural peanutbutter and sugar free jelly, snacked on plenty of fruits (pears, bananas, apples, raising, craisins) between meals; made sure my dinner was something like, grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, cottage cheese, and no carbs; LOTS of water; and natural ingredients. After about a week of altering my eating habits, I wasnt’ as hungry as I use to be – which was crazy – but I loved it!
Getting up for the 545am Bootcamp was challenging for me (Dustin knows I am NOT a morning person), but I never felt better…once it was over! It’s become the way I WANT to start my day (I never thought those words would come out of my mouth!). Dustin’s classes really make you feel good about yourself and who doesn’t want that?! They are SO worth it! I promise, you won’t be disappointed (and I’m a tough sell!). It’s a matter of discipline and saying to yourself, “enough is enough and I’m going to do this.” And you can!
Congrats Jodie! I know you had mentioned you had gone to MamaTones prior to the morning Bootcamps, but I had no idea you had 5 kids, Wow. You look awesome and are very inspirational to the morning workout group. I’m sure it won’t be long before you hit your goal. Keep up the great work!
Jody! You look great! Keep up the good hard work! I KNOW you will reach your goals! Keep pushing yourself! I am so proud of you!:)
Miss Jody-
I am been working out to “your” video the past week-thank you for taking the time to help Dustin, you are an excellent role model. You can be very proud of yourself, the gift of health you gave yourself, and your family will pay dividends for generations to come. Congratulations!
Cheryl
I’ve worked out with Jody only 2 times already and I can only say OW! Jody, did you always have stronger legs? You make the lunges and squats look so effortless!
You look great. I don’t know how you can keep smiling during the 3rd workout with the weights, but you are really an inspiration. Thanks so much for sharing your story and showing us how it’s done!
